You insure your belongings against loss and damage, so why not your most valuable possession—your health?
Without Extended Health & Dental coverage, an unexpected illness or accident can leave you with bills you may not be able to afford. You or a member of your family may develop a medical condition requiring expensive long-term medication. An ambulance trip or dental emergency could cost between $200 and $2,000. And if you’re sent home early from the hospital, you could pay hundreds or even thousands for prescription drugs.
The Alberta Health Care (AHC) Insurance Plan does not cover prescription drugs, ambulance services, dental or vision care. But MOST individual health plans do cover them—and more.
Secure A Healthier Future
When you apply for a Blue Choice individual health plan, we review your medical history. Qualify now and your coverage is assured, regardless of future medical conditions. Wait until an illness or accident occurs, and you could be denied coverage.
If you join an employer group plan sometime in the future, our portability option lets you hold on to your Blue Choice plan for a small fee, then resume coverage in the future, without medical review. Your Alberta Blue Cross premiums qualify as a medical expense. Add them to your other medical expenses, when you calculate your personal income tax credits. Or you may be able to claim them as a business expense, which could provide you with a significant income tax saving of up to 45 per cent of the premium cost.
